Hanging City

Concept Design

Francine Shapiro, an American psychologist, discovered that natural environments can stimulate the brain through eye movements, helping to soothe the mind.

Humans have evolved in natural environments for approximately 300,000 years, adapting to organic, irregular, and curvilinear forms. By contrast, humans have occupied man-made structures for only about 9,000 years.
Modern construction constraints tend to favor flat planes and rectilinear forms. But what if the built environment mimicked nature, embracing organic geometries? Could this lead to greater peace and well-being for occupants? Personal experiences living in improvised camping shelters suggest that it could.

In Hanging City, DAI explores the integration of organic forms within the urban environment.
